Leila Nazarian is an Iranian-American artist currently living between Iran and the
United States. She has exhibited in the United States, Europe and the Middle East
Leila received both her Bachelor of Arts in International and Comparative Politics,
with a minor in Fine Arts, and Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies, from the
American University of Paris. She received her second Master’s in Public Diplomacy
from the University of Southern California.
In her solo exhibition Eclectic Decks Leila continues to express her identity through
the merging of the traditional crafts of Iran, such as Khatamkari, Ayne Kari, and
Ghalamzani with objects from her hometown of Los Angeles such as skateboards
and surfboards. The interplay between the traditional and the contemporary
serves to regenerate attraction towards prosaic objects that are often overlooked.
