Galerie Nicolas Flamel was founded in 2009. Since 2013, the gallery is co-directed by Hessam Khalatbari and Yassi Metghalchi who have been completely dedicating it to modern and contemporary iranian art. The gallery exhibits works from both emerging and prominent artists.

Galerie Nicolas Flamel aims to stimulate and educate, bring art into the lives of everyone, displayed in their homes. And to show another Iran, different from the one we see in the news ; one that fascinates us through its history, poetry, architecture and tradition.

The gallery was named after Nicolas Flamel, a well-known alchemist of the 14th century and only known maker of the Philosopher’s Stone. It is a legendary substance with incredible powers!

He used to live in the oldest house in Paris, in the same area of the gallery. For Harry Potter fans, the name Nicolas Flamel may sound familiar since J.K. Rowling introduced the medieval alchemist in her book.

The gallery is located in the heart of Paris, in the Marais, 2 min walk from the Centre Pomidou Museum.

The gallery is open by appointment but holds few exhibitions during the year. It is open from Monday to Saturday during the scheduled events.

La galerie Nicolas Flamel fut fondée en 2009. Co-dirigée par Hessam Khalatbari et Yassi Metghalchi depuis 2013, la galerie est entièrement consacrée à l’art moderne et contemporain iranien. Elle expose aussi bien des artistes de renom que des artistes émergents.

Elle a été fondée avec l’objectif principal d’amener l’art dans les foyers, d’instruire, et surtout de faire connaitre un autre Iran, différent de celui présenté dans les médias, et loin de la politique ; mais plutôt un Iran qui fascine à travers sa civilisation, sa poésie, son architecture et ses traditions.

La galerie fut appelée ainsi en hommage à Nicolas Flamel, très célèbre écrivain et alchimiste du XIVe siècle qui créa la Pierre philosophale, une pierre permettant de transformer n’importe quel métal en or ainsi que de rendre immortel. Il habitait là où se situe aujourd’hui la galerie. La maison de Nicolas Flamel est, à ce jour, la plus ancienne de Paris, classée Monument historique. Connu par les fans de J.K. Rowling, Nicolas Flamel apparaît également dans le livre de « Harry Potter ».

La galerie est située en plein cœur de Paris, à deux pas du Centre Pompidou dans le Marais 3ème,  véritable quartier historique et artistique parisien.

La galerie présente plusieurs expositions au cours de l’année. En dehors de celles-ci, la collection permanente peut-être visitée sur rendez-vous.
