Anahita Masoudi

Anahita Masoudi is an Iranian artist living between Paris, Tehran and Istanbul. She studied art at University of Tehran and Al-Zahra University. Her work focuses on her own body, observed through its reflections in mirrors, glass, and wall. The images are ambiguous, at once confronting the fear and isolation of her childhood experience of war, and the separation she experiences between herself as an artist and the society. Her figures further portray her resistance to censorship and repression imposed particularly on female artists in Iran. Each work registers ordinary moments, colored by unrelenting despair, in the everyday actions of the female body.
